I Miss the Valentines

Deadly Valentine Jenna Harte

I have tons of characters prattling in my head, begging for their stories to be told. Because I have due dates from a publisher, I have to focus on those books first. Then there are the books I’m writing for my ghostwriting clients. Then there are ideas that I’ve started and want to finish but haven’t focused on. As a result of all that, poor Jack and Tess have been riding the train back from San Fransico for a long, long time.

I try to do a special marketing campaign during Valentine’s to promote the series. This year, I decided I’d go all out…new covers, re-formatted interiors, and finally finished the second box set for books 4-6. As I was working on all this, I realized how much I miss being in the Valentine’s world.

Jack and Tess are a fun couple to be with. He’s devoted to her but will push her when necessary. She’s head-over-heels for him, even if she’s still trying to believe she’s won his heart. They have fun banter and, of course, they do things that people who are in love do (sexy bits!) along with solve murders. They’re not perfect, but they are 100% totally committed.

It’s not that I don’t have ideas for them or am tired of them because I do have ideas and I’m not tired of them. But other projects took precedence. 🙁

But I’m ready to get back to them. While I can’t today, I have re-arranged some of my schedule. I still have to finish Death of a Miser, but with that complete (end of Feb 2021), I’ll begin on the train novella and follow that with my next story…which I’m DYING to write. I think you’ll love it!

This brings me to my next issue. As you know, all the Valentine books have a play on romantic sayings or terms. I have a list, but I’m beginning to run out. Here are a few brainstormed ideas:

  •  Now Pronounce You Dead
  • To Have and To Kill
  • Loves Me Not
  • Love is Patient, Love is Deadly
  • How Do I Hate Thee?
  • Match Made in Hell
  • Forget Me Not

Do you have any to add?
