    One Night in Paradise
It was a jolly, smelly night on the beach. The scent of salt and sunscreen lingered in the air as I clutched my shell and roller skated down the boardwalk.
That’s when I saw him—shirt unbuttoned to his toes, sipping a juice box like he owned the whole island. He was holding a gnome and didn’t even flinch when I tripped over a crab trying to jump past.
Burb,” I muttered under my breath, trying to hide my boredom.
He looked up, smiled noisily, and rolled toward me.
